TRADITIONAL STRUCK MARKS

Made with a punch, creating an impression by moving (forming) the metal.

Traditional handmarking, comprising sponsor's mark, traditional fineness mark, fineness (purity) mark, town mark, date letter

Handmarking is the most traditional method where the article is struck using a punch. Pressmarking is essentially an automated version of handmarking.

LASER HALLMARKING AND ENGRAVING

A modern process in which a very fine high powered laser beam is used to melt and vaporise material, creating a detailed mark, akin to etching. Ideal for hallmarking hollow or thin articles or for marking logos, signatures, serial numbers and stone weights.

3D laser hallmark, comprising sponsor's mark, traditional fineness mark, fineness (purity) mark, town mark, date letter

3D marks are premium quality, resembling a struck mark.

2D laser hallmark, comprising sponsor's mark, traditional fineness mark, fineness (purity) mark, town mark, date letter

2D marks resemble the outline of a struck mark.
