Make Your Mark 2017 - Features, Exhibitors and Speakers


Make Your Mark, the UK’s leading career development and networking event for emerging designers, apprentices and students of jewellery and allied trades, returns this autumn.

Make Your Mark, the UK’s leading networking and career development event for new precious metal designers and makers, returns to Goldsmiths’ Hall in the City of London from 31 October – 1 November 2017. Now in its fourth year, the event comes complete with a treasure trove of opportunities to help emerging designers, apprentices and students of jewellery and the allied trades develop successful careers in the field.

The free two-day event is open to apprentices; students on a UK-based precious-metal-related full or part-time course whether at degree level, a short adult education or privately tutored course; tutors; masters; and those looking to enter the trade.

  • FREE LASER HALLMARKING PACKAGE
    The Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office is offering all students a Laser Hallmarking Package for free. This unrivalled package comprises a 10-year registration and laser software set-up in preparation for laser hallmarking.
  • MAKE YOUR MARK AWARDS
    Now in its second year, this (up to five years since graduation) working in precious metal. Prizes will be awarded to the most artistically convincing design, model or finished piece in which precious metal is used, and where a prominent London hallmark is part of the design. 

    The two categories are Jewellery and Silversmithing and winners have the chance to win a hallmarking punch and hallmarking credit, and an introductory course at Joanna Hardy’s online jewellery school (worth £250); or a hallmarking punch and hallmarking credit, plus mentorship by Garrard and tour of their studio. Find more details here.

    A comprehensive programme with informative talks by industry specialists runs throughout the two days. All talks held in the Exhibition Room (45-minute slots). Times below. Tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis on arrival.

The Marketing and Communications team will discuss how budding jewellers and silversmiths can make the most out of social media.
