Annual UK Hallmarking Figures for 2015


The total number of articles sent for hallmarking at all UK offices in 2015 rose by 8.1% to 10,720,141.  The increase was a result of an increase in gold, platinum and palladium.  Silver fell by 2%.  London’s figures grew by 12.3% and we marked 3,135,312 articles.

Total gold items – up 2.4% (5,150,204 items)

Silver  Fine silver (999) – down 4.1% (18,703 items) Britannia silver (958) – up 65.2% (14,728 items) Sterling silver (925) – down 1.0% (4,927,677 items) 800 parts silver – up 764.1% (5,487 items)

Total silver items – down 0.8% (4,966,595 items)

Platinum 999 parts – up 110.0% (42 items) 950 parts – up 9.6% (279,437 items) 900 parts – up 15.5% (253 items) 850 parts – down 78.2% (156 items)

Total platinum items – up 9.4% (279,888 items)

Palladium 999 parts – up 100%l (575 items) 950 parts – down 4.9% (82,235 items) 500 parts – down 17.5% (15,858 items)

Total palladium items – down 6.7% (98,668 items)
