Artist Alastair Mackie recently visited us with 10 grams of gold. It was panned from a Cornish river over a period of nine weeks this summer. So far it has been melted down and XRF analysed to determine its elemental composition - we found to be 986.1 parts gold / 13.9 parts silver.
Alastair is now in discussions with experts in the leafing and plating industries with the intention of processing the material into a sculptural work which he hopes to exhibit next year.
