April has seen a high number of tour parties visit us at Goldsmiths' Hall - this month including groups from London Nadfas, The Hong Kong Society, The Royal Society of Chemistry, New Club of Ascot, Cambridge Decorative and Fine Arts Society, Cripplegate Ward Club, and of course our new registrants.
We are really proud to have featured twice in BBC TV shows again this month, 'Heir Hunters' and 'Antiques Uncovered'. Our Head of Training, Education & Trading Standards Liaison Dave Merry was interviewed, and you also catch sight of expert handmarkers Terry Dack, Sam Love and Robert Grant at the bench.
Every Year the Great Twelve Livery Companies hold a golf tournament for their Freemen and Liverymen.
Dr Robert Organ, Deputy Warden of the Goldsmiths’ Company Assay Office has flown to New York for the sixth annual gold conference run by Initiatives in Art and Culture. It is called 'Gold – Metaphors, Milestones and Metamorphosis', and his presentation is titled: 'The London Assay Office: How Hallmarking Remains Vital to the Assurance of Quality in the Jewellery and Metal Trades'.
