Goldsmiths' Fair Applications Open

Applications to exhibit at Goldsmiths’ Fair 2019 have now opened and will close at midnight 28 February. Applications for the Graduate Bursary Scheme open for the same period.  The Fair Selection Committee will meet in March and applicants will be advised of the outcome thereafter.  Full details are here.

The 37th Goldsmiths’ Fair (23 September – 6 October) will once again showcase the finest new collections from the most talented UK-based designer-makers working in precious metals. Last year, 138 exhibitors took part and more than 9,000 people visited the event.

New Packet Labels

 

We are introducing a new style label that packets dropped off at our counters will receive.  This acts as both the barcode for our internal purposes, and the receipt for you.  It also provides a clearer overview of the service selected. 

Furthermore it contains a QR code which you can scan to take you directly to our website where you can track the process of your packet.

The Opening of the Trial of the Pyx 2019

Over 10,600 Royal Mint coins went on 'trial' in London on Tuesday 29 January in one of Britain's oldest judicial processes – the Trial of the Pyx – which takes place at Goldsmiths’ Hall.  The Goldsmiths' Company have been responsible for the proceedings since 1580.

Annual UK Hallmarking Figures for 2018

The total number of articles sent for hallmarking at all UK offices in 2018 fell by 2.5% to 9,113,477. 

Silver and palladium saw a decline in the quantity of articles hallmarked, but platinum, gold saw an increase.
